Alim Makanov

My name is Alim Makanov. I originally come from Kazakhstan and now reside in Austin, Texas, which has shaped my adaptable, multicultural perspective. I study at the University of Texas at Austin, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Plan II. My main aspirations are to pursue a law degree and go into contractual law. Thus far, I have ventured into the legal world through paralegal certification and plan to pursue further education in management and the ethics of legal practice.

At university, I serve as director of the legal department for a sustainable building initiative, where I ensure compliance with HOA and federal regulations, handle contractual matters, conduct research on sustainable compliance, and more. Furthermore, I am currently a standards chair in my fraternity and am working towards ensuring safety and compliance within our community. On my free days, I volunteer with the probate court in Travis County to ensure the safety and compliance of guardianship cases. I am eager to bring and improve my knowledge.
