
About Pedro Guzman
Pedro Xavier Guzman is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. Pedro has developed research and problem-solving skills while working as a research assistant in a Geotechnical Research Lab, where he conducted experiments to enhance the accuracy of measurements on the hydraulic properties of geotextiles, earning him the Undergraduate Research Fellowship (URF) in Geotechnical Engineering. After completing his URF, he was awarded an Undergraduate Research Scholarship to investigate the combination of drone and AI technology to autonomously inspect the structural integrity of infrastructure.
Outside of research, he has gained experience in project management as the President and founder of the Sustainable Building Initiative, an organization that designs and oversees the construction of its projects. He leads a team of 88 interdisciplinary members who, from conception to completion, ensure that projects meet all client specifications and deadlines. Since the team’s founding in November 2024, he has overseen a total project value of $250 million.
