Qatar Hosts Middle East Produced Water Oilfield Symposium & Exhibition 2024 

Doha, Qatar – The Middle East Produced Water Oilfield Symposium & Exhibition 2024, organized by the Produced Water Society – Middle East Chapter, successfully took place on September 17–18, 2024, at Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The Pearl – Doha, Qatar. 

The symposium served as a premier platform for industry leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss the latest challenges, opportunities, and innovations in produced water management. Key topics included technological advancements, environmental regulations, water treatment, and sustainable reuse strategies within the oil and gas sector. 

A highlight of the event was the Keynote Address by Elena I. Athwal, Research Fellow for the UNESCO Chair of Environmental Law & Sustainable Development. Ms. Athwal emphasized the importance of robust regulatory frameworks, international collaboration, and sustainable practices in produced water management. Her insights set the stage for in-depth discussions on integrating environmental governance with technological innovation. 

The symposium also featured panel sessions and technical presentations from experts across the globe, fostering knowledge exchange and networking opportunities. Discussions underscored Qatar’s commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship, highlighting the nation’s advancements in produced water treatment and utilization. 

Attendees included representatives from International Oil Companies (IOCs), National Oil Companies (NOCs), government officials, and environmental professionals, all contributing to a rich exchange of ideas aimed at promoting sustainable resource management in the region.
