ICELIS Global had the esteemed honor of partnering with Mashael Al Sulaiti Law Firm on a high level virtual seminar organized by the International Chamber of Commerce, Qatar.
The two-day event titled “Dealing with the Geopolitical Crisis: Legal Aspects in Governance, ESG Compliance, Priorities and Risk Management for the Private Sector in Qatar”, was attended by 200+ participants with representatives of banks, law firms, embassies, real estate companies and consulting firms.
Representing ICELIS Global, Founder and CEO, Elena Athwal, spoke about the importance of strengthening environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, and developing internal governance systems to ensure companies can adapt and comply in an uncertain environment. She also stressed that environmental, social, and corporate governance practices during crises are not limited to reporting, but represent an important tool for documenting the evidence needed to support legal positions.
The seminar also featured Opening Remarks by the Secretary General of the ICC Qatar, Her Excellency Sheikha Tamader Al-Thani, who emphasized the importance of these discussions in light of rapid geopolitical developments in the GCC and the challenges they pose to the private sector.
